About Us

History.

Nick Packham B.A. (hons) Graduated from Northampton University in 1998 ( formely  Nene university college). Where he graduated in a Visual Arts Degree specialising in 3D Sculpture(metal and stone) with secondary specialisms in drawing and photography.

Whilst at University Nick won a competition for a sculpture that resides in the head office of Birse Construction a major construction firm in the UK. Whilst at the end of the course he also won a commission for the Forestry Commission Thetford Forest creating two sculptures of a wood en caterpillar (35 ft long) and a Stag of mixed material (Stone , metal(copper and steel) and wood. This took over 9 weeks to accomplish.

Work and other training oppotunities took over whilst Nick worked on creating a workshop'studio and his own style.

In 2004 a Severe back injury halted his work. This left him disabled requiring a walking stick to walk any distance and a lot of severe pain. He has now recovered as much as possible with a new determination and inspiration. Focussing on his love for Art and a need to reconnect with the community, he became involved in local groups.

Since this time Nick has worked on a variety of community workshops and projects.These include set designs for two local community theatres  'The Tempest' where he built a very large boat and scenery and prospero's cave. 2006.

Romeo and Juliet  2008 Theatre Re-Gener8 Invovled in the design and making of the set and props for the play. Full  exterior house set and balcony.

A prop making workshops with Stantonbury School Art Dept for the play 'My Fair Lady' 2007.

He has worked as an Art Tutor for adults for over two years in secure facilities 2006- 2009.

 We first opened for business in 2009, after a long time perfecting different texturing techniques and constructions. We have been creating in Milton Keynes and Bucks area. Now expanding our area with demonstrations and mobile workshops. 

Specialising in animal and garden sculptures with a big emphasis on surface texture. Working with a range of metals such as copper ,brass, steel and stainless steel.

Working with a couple of heritage crafts organisations to deliver a range of workshops and demonstrations.

2010, St Lawrence Hall, Winslow Gate 19th Century restoration of existing Blacksmiths Gate and panels.

2011-12, working for ISG and the National Trust on some replacement ironwork and copies of old existing ironwork. 

Demonstrating at Milton Keynes Museum.

I am also a member of BABA..... British Artist Blacksmiths Association. This is an association of like minded Blacksmiths who share and teach old and new skills.www.baba.org.uk
